This year the first thing I was sure of was that I wanted a sexy Halloween makeup look. I didn’t know what my costume would be, if I wanted to change my hair, heels or no heels, or even if had a costume party to attend. All I knew is that I wanted something bold and sexy and whatever costume I picked would have to match my makeup.
Halloween is now only days away, I have decided on what my look will be and am confirmed for a costume party. Here are the steps I took to get this look.
*It is best to begin these steps on a clean, freshly washed face for best results. In these pics my skin wanted to be oily even though it was clean. Don’t worry if you have oily skin, with the proper mattifying products it won’t be an issue.
Step 1. Eyebrows. Fill them in with pencil, powder or wax to your desired shape. I used Anastasia “Brow Wiz” at first but then my brows got oily so it wore off. I went over my brows again with Anastasia Dip Brow to lightly fill in the shape. My brows are shaped by Wink Brow Bar. (Tell them Kory of Type 4 Naturals sent you and read my experience with them here.) Skip this step if your brows are micro-bladed or already set another way.
Step 2. I added Hourglass “Mineral Veil” primer to my face. Urban Decay “Eye shadow Primer Potion” to my eyelids. For this look the eye shadow is extremely pigmented. To make sure it wold hold I made sure to fully cover my eyelids with the Urban Decay Primer. Let both primers dry for about a minute or two and head on to the next step.
Step 3. Time to apply the shadow. I’m using one of the blackest eye shadows on the market by Make Up Forever. This shadow particles can fall all over your face if you don’t apply it with care. I took my time to gently press the shadow on to my lids. Then I blended until the shadow didn’t show any lines and made a nice cat eye shape. I then filled in my bottom lid and blended it all again until it got nice and smokey looking.
*At this point you may feel you look like a racoon but keep going. I took a soft dry tissue and brushed off my face to remove any shadow that may have fallen.
Step 4. Line inside and outside of eyes, draw the liner out to winged/cat eye look if you wish. I applied it without bringing the liner outside the eye, but on the night of the Halloween party I will probably make it more dramatic.
Step 5. Apply lashes that are long and pop, the shadow is so dark so in my opinion this is a must. Then I applied Stila “Stay all Day” waterproof liquid eyeliner over the lash band to blend the look.
Step 6. My eyes looked sunken in due to all the darkness of the eye look. To balance that out I dabbed on some NARS concealer to highlight the under eye area.
Step 7. I applied Lancome Teint Idole Ultrawear foundation with a makeup sponge. Let it dry then time for the finishing powders.
Step 8. To finish the look I applied NARS Setting Powder, and Laura Mercier “Second Skin” blush. Then followed with Smashbox Spotlight Highlighting Palette and Smashbox Contour Kit to bring out areas such as my cheekbones.
Step 9. Apply lipstick. Classic red works for this look. I used MAC lipstick in the top red shade that works for most… Ruby Woo.
Here is My Final Look:
This year I was surprised that it took me so long to figure out what my costume would be, usually I have that in mind and then spend hours trying to figure out a makeup look. I am kind of glad that I had a sexy Halloween makeup look in mind, I feel that I saved more time in my Halloween preparations. What is my costume you ask? Don’t worry- Once I get a picture of the sexy Halloween makeup and costume I will add it to this post.
What are your Halloween plans? Will you do any sexy Halloween makeup?
