As a mom, I tend to only focus on getting the young one a Halloween costume and coordinated book to walk in the yearly school parade around the school, and not on myself. I usually do not worry about putting on a costume or looking like I want to participate in the Halloween traditions while begging, knocking door to door trick or treating. Last year, during an Elf Cosmetics campaign, I dabbled in the makeup they provided and did a mini photoshoot for Instagram. It was so nerve wrecking, because I don’t do technical makeup techniques. I also don’t really apply so many steps of makeup to my face. Mascara, lipstick and maybe blush is the extent of my daily routine. It was pretty exciting to actually take the time to create the look (sans the whiskers) and then get “good job” comments from those that knew it must have taken me half the day to create the look. Lol
This year, mini me decided to want a “all girls nite out” celebration for her birthday. Her birthday always coincides with Halloween because it’s days prior. This year she’s doing a few girls at a skating rink wearing their Halloween costumes. It’s such a cute idea, I’m glad we collaborated nicely to make it happen. As the mother of the host, how can I not show up in a costume myself? What costume can I create that will not take half the day to apply to my face and half the night to take off? I opted for something colorful and wouldn’t be an embarrassment for the soon to be 8 year old…popstar mom!
Here’s what I used for this year’s Halloween look
- Colorful Wig – which ever color or colors you choose
- Colorful makeup – my inspiration (https://youtu.be/Gn3L1Z1wVgE)
- Colorful Tutu
- Old Black jacket
- Bags of Pop rock candy
- Safety pins
So in busy mom fashion, my intention was to do all my chores and still have time to create this look. Clearly that did not happen. This post will be updated with my look for this Halloween.
What are you and your mini dressing up as for this Halloween?
