Tell us about your business. What product or service do you provide?
XOXO Virgin Hair provides authentic, high performing luxury virgin hair extensions to African-American women ages 21-45 who have a discerning taste for quality hair extensions.
What would you say makes your business different from the competition in your field?
My brand believes in quality and integrity first, as we honestly market our products, something that is rarely practiced in the hair extensions industry. When potential customers inquire, we offer a tailored consultation experience to help them achieve their best look!
Why did you become an entrepreneur? What does owning your own business mean to you?
As a fashion model, I understood the need of wearing hair extensions that were easy to manage and style, as it allows time to be saved on the set of a shoot, instead of wasting time on hair that is deemed “disobedient”, so I became an entrepreneur in the hair industry understanding the concerns of industry professional. Owning my own hair extensions brand allows me to create a flexible schedule, and gives me the ability to provide a valuable product to the industry that is reliable and consistent in quality, which makes the customer and stylist happy.
What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?
My greatest influence in business are my customers and their hairstylists. Understanding their needs allows me to continue to provide excellent customer service and a quality product!
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
My greatest professional accomplishment is establishing a close business relationship with a celebrity hairstylist – going on two years! She recognizes and values my hair quality and continues to turn to XOXO Virgin Hair for her clientele’.
Tell us about a time when things did not go the way you expected it to. What do you learn from the experience?
At the time, I was excited to reach out and collaborate with a celebrity hairstylist. Upon initial contact, I sent product out, only to find that communication dropped on their behalf after the product was sent. From then on I learned to have legal agreements established no matter how much I thought how reputable looking they were from the outside.
Do you have any new projects coming up? If so, let’s talk about it.
Currently, a new origin of hair is in Beta testing called the Xiu Mei Collection, and so far the feedback on the quality is amazing! I look forward to it’s public release! The Xiu Mei Collection has released and can be found on the XOXO Virgin Hair site.
What is a goal you plan to accomplish over the next year?
My goal is to collaborate with more celebrity hairstylists and establish deep rooted business relationships with them, and continue to provide hair that is consistent in quality!
What would be the best advice you have received and still follow?
The best advice I have ever received is to have a legal agreement with every collaboration. It protects your brand, I cannot stress that enough.
Do you have non-work habits to help you with work-life balance?
I like to write everything down that needs to be accomplished, that way my mind doesn’t feel cluttered and I’m able to scratch my list off as I go!
Any last minute thoughts for our readers?
